Pus on Tonsils
Pus on Tonsils is a common symptom of Tonsillitis. Its a common disease in children (3 to 12 year old). Tonsils are present in the back portion of our mouth, from where we swallow food and water. Pus on tonsils or swelling of tonsils can cause problems in swallowing food or breathing. It may also cause constant fever. The color of pus on tonsils may be yellow or white. Tonsillitis can occur due to some kind of bacterial or viral infections.
Tonsillitis
Usually tonsils help our body fight infections but sometimes they themselves get infected by some viral or
bacterial infection. Bacterial infection can be treated using antibiotics but viral infection is treated by body itself in 4 to 5 days. Symptoms of Tonsillitis may differ from person to person.
Some common symptoms of Tonsillitis are:
- Sore Throat
- Reddishness on tonsils or Back side of throat
- Pus deposition on tonsils (White or Yellow)

- Vomiting
- Difficulty in swallowing
- Difficulty in Breathing
Common Symptoms of Tonsillitis in Children
- Bad breathing or snoring while sleeping
- Pain in Abdomen
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Lack of Appetite
Treatment of Tonsillitis
If you feel that you are facing some sort of problem with your tonsils, then visit doctor for proper medication. Doctor might ask you to get some tests done to know if its cause due to bacterial infection or viral infection. Bacterial infection can be treated using some antibiotics but medicines have no effect on viral infection and its treated by our immune system itself. Usually it takes 4 to 5 days to treat tonsillitis. In some rare cases doctor might ask you to get your tonsils removed. But if you notice the problem on time and do proper treatment as per the advice of doctor then you might not need it. You can take the following precautionary measures to treat tonsils in earliest possible time.
- Gargle with warm water at least three times a day
- Drink Warm water
- Eat some thing smooth with less or no spices.
- You may take pain killers if you are feeling pain.

Diabetes Insipidus (DI)
Diabetes Insipidus is different from Diabetes Mellitus.
Diabetes Insipidus is not related to sugar level in your blood. Its related to functioning of your kidney.
Diabetes Insipidus is a condition which causes frequent urination. Its just like you are drinking water and its coming out as urine. In
Diabetes Insipidus urine is very diluted (almost water). Therefore the patient feels a lot of thirst. Sometimes it even disturbs the sleep as the sufferer need to get up for urination. In worst conditions it may cause bedwetting. Bedwetting is mostly caused by kids as they have less control over their urinary muscles.
Diabetes Insipidus is not a life threatening disease. So if your doctor diagnosed you about this disease than don't be in any tension.
Diabetes Insipidus is of four Types :
- Central Diabetes Insipidus: It occurs due to lack of anti-diuretic hormone (ADH). It may be caused by some abnormality in the pituitary gland or hypothalamus.
- Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus: When Kidneys don't respond or respond improperly to anti-diuretic hormone (ADH) then it can cause Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus.
- Gestational Diabetes Insipidus: This type of DI occurs during pregnancy. An enzyme made by the placenta destroys ADH in mother which results in Gestational Diabetes Insipidus.
- Primary Polydipsia: This condition is also known as dipsogenic diabetes insipidus or psychogenic polydipsia. Its not caused due to ADH production. It occurs due due to excessive fluid intake. This situation arises to either some mental illness or due to some dame in thirst-regulating mechanism.
Diabetes Insipidus Symptoms
Diabetes Insipidus Symptoms in Adults:
- Extreme thirst
- Frequent and Diluted Urine.
Diabetes Insipidus Symptoms in Kids / Children:
- Unusually Wet Diapers
- Fever
- Inconsolable Crying
- Vomiting or Diarrhea
- Weight loss
- Dry Skin due to Dehydration
- Delayed growth
Diabetes Insipidus Treatment
There are different
treatments for different types of Diabetes Insipidus. These different treatment are described below.
- Central Diabetes Insipidus Treatment: A synthetic hormone called desmopressin is used to treat Central Diabetes Insipidus . Its available as a nasal spray, oral tablets and injection.
- Nephrogenic diabetes insipidus Treatment: Low-salt diet can help in this condition as it reduces the amount of urine that your kidneys make. Hydrochlorothiazide is usually prescribed in this condition.
- Gestational diabetes insipidus Treatment: Its also treated with synthetic hormone desmopressin.
- Primary Polydipsia Treatment: There is no particular treatment for Primary Polydipsia. Best treatment for this form of diabetes insipidus is decreasing fluid intake.
Diabetes Insipidus Home Remedies
Diabetes Insipidus can be treated at home only during early stages. You can cure it by taking sufficient amount of water. But if you feel that your condition is severe then you must consult a doctor as soon as possible.

Diabetes Side Effects in Men & Women
Diabetes is well known for its
side effects. In this disease the patient not only need to take care of his/her diet but also take care of
side-effects caused by diabetes. One major well known
side effect is on fresh wounds, as it take a long time for clotting to happen. So major injuries can result in high blood loss. Here betterhealthfacts.blogspot.com will tell you some other
side effects of diabetes and precautions that you can use to get over them.
Diabetes Side Effects
- In a diabetic person the sugar level might get low as well, so he/she should always keep some sugar product handy to eat (especially when they are out of your home).
- It takes longer to heal an injury. In diabetic person both clotting and healing process are slowed down. It might be 2 to 10 times slower than normal person. The speed of healing process also depends on your sugar level. It better to keep a first aid kit and dressing material handy. Avoid injuries but still if something happens wrong then don't wait for blood to stop, instead use the dressing material to stop the blood flow.
- Another side effect of diabetes is on eyesight . If at any point of time you feel blurred vision or continuous pain in your head then consult your doctor as it might be symptom of eyesight problem.
- People who don't take care of their diet and medicines instead of being diabetic, might face a kidney failure in their life. This is the worst thing that a diabetic person might face.
Don't get feared by all these side effects, as if you take a balanced diet suggested by your doctor and proper medication, then you can easily get over these
side effects. The
side effects discussed above are common in
men and women. In next update we will discuss more about separate
side effects of diabetes in men and women.

Heat Stroke is a serious medical problem, which is life threatening in babies and infants. In medical terms
Heat Stroke is known as Hyperthermia. Hyperthermia is exactly opposite of Hypothermia. If you are a keen watcher of Discovery channel then you must be aware of Hypothermia. Hypothermia occurs due to intense cooling of body, while Hyperthermia occurs due to overheating of body.
Heat Stroke can occur if you are exposed to sunlight during summer or some other intense heated environment. It affects infants and babies more often than adult beings because temperature regulatory mechanism of babies is not as much efficient as adults. Heat Stroke starts when body is overheated and temperature regulatory system shut-down due to overheating of body. When body temperature rises over 104 F, several metabolic activities starts to shutdown, and temperature regulatory system is one of them.
Babies can't express their feelings and symptoms when they face Heat Stroke, so parents need to be extremely careful during summer. They should be kept away from direct sun-light during daytime. It can also start after continuous high temperature for few days or a sun burn. Primary indication of Heatstroke includes high temperature of body and no sweating. We should plan our diet according to a diet chart to manage right level of sugar level in our blood.
Usually our body can manage sugar level, even if we have high sugar diet occasionally. But if we have high sugar diet on regular basis, then our body lose control over sugar level with time. Pancreas secretes insulin to control sugar level in our blood stream.
Sugar Level in Human Body - Minimum and Maximum Range
Sugar Level in human body varies from time to time. It is lowest when we wake up in the morning. If we check our sugar level before having breakfast (i.e called Fasting Test) then sugar lever for different types of people will be as follows.Sugar Level in Human Body (fasting)

- Prediabetes: 6.0 to 6.9 mmol/l (108 to 126 mg/dl)
- Diagnosis of diabetes: more than 6.9 mmol/l (126 mg/dl)
The Chart Below shows sugar level after having breakfast. Sugar level suddenly increases after having food but controlled in a normal person, but rises very high in prediabetic and diabetic person.
The chart above shows how sugar level is controlled in a normal person in an effective way. It always remains between 70 to 129 mg/dl. It never increases too much neither go too low.
